Project UP!

UP Studios is Bristol’s only Craft & Wellbeing destination. Opening in 2023, the community space has been co-developed with Neurodivergent artists & makers from across the city.

This ACE project, delivered over 6 months, will host workshops for Bristol’s PMDD ADHD group to co-design a new welcome facade to the building. Pro bono support will ensure it is a fully accessible community space inside.

A launch event will platform the new space and voices of Neurodivergent people from Bristol.

Founder & Director, Leigh-Anne Treadwell studied a Fine Art BA, Events Management MA at UWE and is a Fellow of The School For Social Entrepreneurs. Her career in the Arts industry has been varied, encompassing community arts, education events, Craft Social Enterprise mentoring and TV Filming.

Leigh-Anne was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) aged 27, Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder (PMDD) aged 37, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) age 40. After 38 years of misdiagnosis, dangerously flaring symptoms and desperately 'searching for answers' - her ADHD Diagnosis in 2023 seemed to 'join the dots'.

Newly diagnosed, Leigh-Anne now embarks on a life 're-design' inline with her values and creativity, a similar approach to an upholstery transformation project. Taking a worn out torn item, ripping it back, understanding and solving underlying issues, redesigning and rebuilding to suit the preferred comfort levels with the tools and resources to be playful.

Only now, she has the power that comes with knowledge of how her ADHD mind thrives! With a curious nature, excitable ideas and energetic determination she aims to initiate 'Project UP' to help others embark on a journey of connection and understanding through Art & Craft for those who experience symptoms of ADHD & PMDD.

Starting on Old Market high street in 2015 as an 'Incubator' space for freshly qualified upholsterers, Bristol Upholstery Collective strived to provide affordable livelihoods by sharing overheads, sharing support and working in collaboration as independent start up upholsterers.

This model escalated to include becoming an Association of Master Upholsterers Training Centre delivering the industry Diploma, alongside leisure classes, field trips, talks and events that bring together a UK wide community with a shared passion for Upholstery.

Celebrating 10 years in 2025, Bristol Upholstery Collective has put Bristol on the map for Upholstery Training, Crafts education,  and events. Leigh-Anne has become well known for her use of 'playfulness' to an audience of over 2 million viewers of BBC TV show 'Money For Nothing' featuring in over 50 episodes since 2019.

Sharing her skills is a passion, and not limited to upholstery. She mentors Makers as a School For Social Entrepreneurs Fellow, and appears on BBC2 TV show 'Jay & Davids Touring Toolshed' 2023 as a Crafts Expert helping people realise their projects to fruition.
